iSizwe Distributors is a new company, offering the publishing industry an exciting and innovative distribution option.
Our team of distribution and circulation managers has extensive experience in the publishing and distribution environment. A small team is a focused team and we make sure that we remain proactive and identify the core needs of our clients.
Our central ethos is that no client is more important than any other client and we reject cookie cutter and sausage factory approaches to distribution.
We assess each client and devise bespoke delivery and distribution solutions for print media publishers that meet their needs.
Dickon Jayes, Managing Director and Owner
Dickon has 20 years of experience in the circulation and print media distribution environment. He started working for Mail & Guardian newspaper as a merchandiser in 1998. Since then, he has managed the circulations of daily and weekly newspapers as well as weekly and monthly magazines. Since 2007 he has been the general manager and from 2011 the managing director of a national distribution company.
Dickon brings an innovative approach to problem-solving and has thus managed to find solutions to the difficulties that the distribution and publishing industries find themselves. He has implemented new distribution methodologies, new business models, and managed to find growth for his clients despite difficult market conditions.
He has a deep interest in systems and processes and uses his analytical skills to understand how to improve distribution for his clients.
Dickon is a strategic thinker who enjoys ensuring that the strategies devised for his distribution clients dovetail with the publication’s editorial, advertising and marketing strategies. He sees strategic alignment and the elimination of silos as crucial to the ongoing success of the business. He is interested in seeing possibilities beyond what is already present and known by using his insight, ingenuity and intellect.
Dickon is an avid amateur historian and has been known to prod his nose into the odd museum exhibit. When he is not managing the business he can be found building a model tank with his daughters or researching the history of the latest antique sword he has acquired.
Jolanda de Freitas, General Manager
Jolanda is a fantastic general manager. Calm under pressure, with an eye for detail and a systematic approach to distribution she makes sure that plans are executed with aplomb and that any difficulties that are experienced are quickly and effectively dealt with, with the minimum amount of disruption and the maximum benefit to all stakeholders.
With 23 years of experience in the distribution industry, Jolanda has a wealth of experience, skill and expertise that she draws upon to ensure that our operations run smoothly. She is a supply allocations whizz and has a knack for optimising supplies to ensure that the right number of copies, of the right publication, are delivered in the right quantities at the right price to the right shops, thus maximising sales and reducing wastage.
Jolanda has worked on a wide variety of titles: everything from beautiful coffee table books to weekly classified advertising tabloids. She has a thorough knowledge of the South African publishing and distribution landscape and has what it takes to kick your print publication to the next level.
Jolanda has a deep-seated love of animals and when not making sure your publication is selling like hotcakes, she can be found cuddling a piglet or rubbing her dog’s ears lovingly.
Irene Jayes, Subscriptions and Financial Manager
Irene is our excellent subscriptions and financial manager ensuring that we meet our various financial commitments on time every time, whilst also ensuring that subscriptions are renewed on time and that deliveries happen on time and to specification.
She has recently moved into management after many years of being a teacher at various schools in Johannesburg. She thinks managing Rands and cents is far easier and much more fun than herding metaphorical cats through the school day.
iSizwe uses an outsourced delivery methodology to ensure that the right people promote your publication so that the right number of copies of your publication is delivered to the right stores and subscribers, at the right time and at the right price.
As we have access to over 10 000 retailers in Southern Africa we cannot list our full complement of contractors and service providers.
